Delta: ‘Unruly passenger’ causes Atlanta-bound flight to land in Dallas

A flight bound for Atlanta was diverted to Dallas Thursday evening due to an ‘unruly passenger’ on board.

Delta Airlines Flight 731, which took off from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, was bound for Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

However, Delta said the flight had to land at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport because of an ‘unruly passenger’ on board.

It is unclear what the passenger did to cause the plane to land and if any threat was made toward other passengers.

Delta officials said after the aircraft landed, the passenger was escorted off the plane, and the flight then continued to Atlanta. It landed around 4 a.m. at Hartsfield-Jackson International around 4 a.m.

“We apologize to our customers on board for the disruption and delay to their travel plans,” Delta officials said in a statement.

The identity of the passenger has not been released. It is unclear if the passenger will face any charges.
