Elections officials in DeKalb say they are seeing a record number of voters this election.

“We just want make sure people are ready for this November 3rd election and any election that stems from it,” said Erica Hamilton, DeKalb Voter Registration Election Director. “We just want to show our commitment to the voters and to the elector of DeKalb.”

Plus with the pandemic, voting through absentee ballot is a route many voters are taking.

“By experience, I rather do it in person but given that I’m a little bit older, I think it will be crowded this year I decided to go ahead and use the absentee,” said voter Dennis Papp.

Voters say the stakes are high this year and that there shouldn’t be any excuse not to vote.

“If you sit around do not vote, then you’re part of the problem and in order to get solution, you can’t sit around and complain if don’t get out and vote,” said voter Nicole Parker.

DeKalb County election officials say all drop boxes are secure. They are locked to the ground and under 24-hour surveillance.

The goal is to make it easier and safer for people to vote.
