Decatur police searching for man they say robbed, tried to sexually assault woman in parking garage

DECATUR, Ga. — City of Decatur police are searching for a man they say robbed a woman at gunpoint and attempted to sexually assault her in a downtown Decatur parking garage Sunday morning.

Police said the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on East Trinity Place. Police said a man approached the victim as she pulled into the parking garage of an apartment building and asked her to help him get into the building.

Police said the man then pointed a gun at the victim and demanded her possessions. He then attempted to sexually assault the victim but she fought back. The suspect left the scene. The victim was left with a minor injury to her head.

The victim described the suspect as a Black man with a light complexion who is around 200 pounds and 5 foot 6 inches tall. He was wearing gloves, a dark-colored, heavy jacket, a full face mask and was armed with a silver revolver, police said.

Police are trying to identify the driver/owner of a red Cadillac STS with dark tinted windows and no tag that arrived and left the location during the same time frame as the assault.
