Coronavirus counts surge in Athens

Homeless shelter closes

The Clarke County coronavirus case count continues to climb, with another 1,600 cases added over the past two weeks. The Georgia Department of Public Health says Athens' total since March stands at 4,540. The death toll holds steady from Monday at 36. Oconee County has now had 24 deaths from COVID 19.

The Georgia Department of Public Health says the state added another 20 coronavirus deaths over the past 24 hours, with the total since March now at 6,353.
