VIDEO: APD officer calmly takes down bank robbery suspect walking down street

ATLANTA — It didn’t take long for an Atlanta Police officer to track down a man accused of robbing a bank on Greenbriar Parkway on July 26.

Within minutes after the alarm at the Wells Fargo Bank at 2841 Greenbriar Parkway went off, police arrived, searched the area quickly and found their suspect.

Investigators say 21-year old Jabrell Harvey walked up to the teller just after 1:30 p.m. Monday and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The teller complied with the demand and handed over an undisclosed amount of money to Harvey before activating a silent alarm.

Harvey then allegedly ran out the door and down the street, away from the bank.

A short time later, police found Harvey in the 3200 block of Continental Colony. Atlanta Police posted video of the arresting officer’s encounter with him as he walked down the street.

The officer calmly took Harvey into custody without raising his voice and just carrying on a conversation. He was able to recover the stolen money from Harvey’s possession.

Harvey was transported to the Fulton County jail and is facing one charge of threat by intimidation.

The Atlanta Police Zone 4 Officers Track and Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect Shortly After He Takes Money from Bank Teller

The Atlanta Police Department is pleased to announce an arrest made in a July 26th bank robbery from 2841 Greenbriar Pkwy SW. Preliminary Information: On July 26th, 2021, at approximately 1:37PM, Atlanta Police responded to a silent alarm at the Wells Fargo located at 2841 Greenbriar Pkwy SW. Upon arrival, officers learned that an adult male suspect entered the bank and passed a note demanding money to the teller. The bank teller complied with the demand and supplied the suspect with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the area on foot. Officers searching the area quickly tracked the suspect (later identified as 21-year-old Jabrell Harvey) to the area of 3260 Continental Colony, where he was taken into custody without incident. The stolen money was also recovered from Mr. Harvey’s possession. The Atlanta Police Department is appreciative of the efforts of Zone 4 officers for their quick work in apprehending Mr. Harvey. The clear communication, calm disposition and professional demeanor of the officers involved in this arrest is noteworthy.
