Over 2 dozen UGA athletes among Georgians to compete at Tokyo Olympics

ATHENS, Ga. — Dozens of University of Georgia athletes are looking for more than the red and black, they are going for gold, starting this week at the 2021 Olympics.

Thirty-one UGA athletes, alumni and coaches will compete in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games for eight different countries. It’s the second-largest UGA delegate in Olympic history, just behind the 2016 Olympics.

The Bulldog track and field program will send the largest number of athletes, sending 12 current and former athletes, including four currently on the roster (in italics)

They include:

Johannes Erm (Estonia) -- Decathlon

Elija Godwin (USA) -- Relays

Cejhae Green (Antigua & Barbuda) -- 100m

Lynna Irby (USA) -- Relays

Morgann Leleux (USA) -- Pole Vault

Shaunae Miller-Uibo (Bahamas) -- 200m / 400m

Jasmine Moore (USA) -- Triple Jump

Keturah Orji (USA) -- Triple Jump

Garrett Scantling (USA) -- Decathlon

Karel Tilga (Estonia) -- Decathlon

Maicel Uibo (Estonia) -- Decathlon

Jarryd Wallace (USA) -- 100m / 200m (Paralympic Games)

Kendell Williams (USA) -- Heptathlon
