Cherokee prosecutors near plea deal with alleged spa shooter, Fulton DA says

ATLANTA — Fulton County’s district attorney said she believes Cherokee County prosecutors are near to making a plea deal with the alleged shooter in the shooting at several metro area spas, killing a total of eight people.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said that she has been informed that the Cherokee County case involving Robert Aaron Long is expected to be resolved at an arraignment next week.

“In my world that means they’ve reached a deal,” Willis said.

Long faces four counts of murder after investigators said he walked into Young’s Asian Massage spa off Bells Ferry Road and Highway 92 in Cherokee County and killed four people.

Police said Long then came to Atlanta where he is accused of opening fire at two spas across the street from each other on Piedmont Road.

Long was eventually arrested after law enforcement tracked him to Crisp County. After a short chase, Georgia State Patrol troopers performed a PIT maneuver on Long’s car as he was headed to Florida along Interstate 75.

Willis’ office has filed a motion to have Long brought to Fulton County so he can face charges there.

Willis plans on pursuing the death penalty in the case.
