ATLANTA — The city of Atlanta, metro area cities, and some across the state are preparing for new protests Sunday in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.
Governor Brian Kemp has activated up to 3,000 members of the National Guard to deploy to areas around the state. On Sunday, many were undergoing a special riot control training course.

For two straight nights, the city of Atlanta experienced protests that turned destructive. Atlanta police made dozens of arrests as rioters damaged businesses and set some fires.
Atlanta police on Saturday took a more aggressive stance against those not protesting peacefully. It came after mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms instituted a curfew from 9 p.m. to sunrise. She has extended that curfew order again – from Sunday evening 9 p.m. to sunrise Monday.
