A government watchdog group has started an online petition to try to get former State Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers fired from his new job.

This is Rogers' first week in his newly created $150,000 a year job as an executive producer with Georgia Public Broadcasting. Better Georgia executive director Bryan Long says Rogers is making more than the governor, and more than twice what others holding that title make.

"The job was never advertised," says Long.  "Governor Deal creating this job for Chip Rogers is worse than all of Governor Deal's bad appointments."

Long notes Georgia Public Broadcasting has seen its budget cut by 14 percent since deal became Governor.

Rogers resigned his senate seat late last year, soon after he was re-elected.
