More than a third of Americans eat fast food daily, new report says

Fast food is part of the American way of life.

Every day, more than a third of Americans eat fast food, according to a new report from the National Center for Health Statistics.

The report finds that the amount of fast food we consume decreases with age. Younger adults, ages 20 to 39.

More men than women go through the drive-thru, and more blacks than whites eat fast food according to the findings. Fast food consumption also increased with income level.

Earlier findings show that our kids are eating more fast food too.

A recent survey of 800 parents shows that in 2016, some 91 percent reported purchasing lunch or dinner for their child in the past week at one of the four largest chains in the country: McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and Subway.

That number is up from 79 percent in 2010.

This latest study did not look at children and fast food and it also did not look at what kind of fast food Americans are eating.

It did find that men were more likely than women to eat fast food at lunch, but women were more likely to report eating fast food as a snack.
