Kristen Holloway joined the WSB news team as a reporter in January 2019. She previously worked as an anchor and reporter at WREG, the CBS affiliate in Memphis, Tennessee, for two years. Prior to that, Holloway was the weekend morning anchor at WATE, the ABC affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee, for two years. During her time there, she covered the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama. Former President Barack Obama spoke at the Edmund Pettus Bridge about the historic march in 1965, wherein people demonstrated for voting rights and to end segregation. Holloway got her start in news as a multimedia journalist at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Atlanta native attended Florida A&M University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism. During her time at FAMU, Holloway won a first-place Florida Associated Press Award for her 15-minute documentary that she wrote and co-produced. Also, while in college, Holloway interned with CBS News Network in New York during the summer of 2011. She worked very closely with all the CBS affiliates, edited anchor promos and specials, helped producers write scripts for live anchor cross-talks and produced cross-talks for "The Early Show," currently known as "CBS This Morning." Holloway was also nominated for a Mid-South Regional Emmy in 2016 in the breaking news category for her live reporting the morning University of Tennessee coach Pat Summitt died. Holloway won a gold medal in gymnastics on the floor exercise during the 2005 Junior Olympics. She was a competitive gymnast for nine years, cheered for eight years and ran track for four years. She’s an active member of National Association of Black Journalists and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Holloway loves finding stories, telling them and helping people in the process. She’s excited to be back in her hometown and can’t wait to get involved in the community!
