Republican presidential hopefuls refused to get in to a discussion on the Sunday talk shows of Mitt Romney’s faith, Mormonism, and whether it should be considered a cult by Christians. 

If you would like to spend a little time on skimming some of the tenets of other faiths, a lot of people have found this book helpful by Fritz Riddenour, So What's the Difference?: A Look at 20 Worldviews, Faiths and Religions and How They Compare to Christianity. Yes, it is just an overview and written from a Christian perspective but you would be surprised how many don’t know squat about other religions.  It could be a good starting place for you.
