Social network couponing is raging. WSJ.COM has a feature story you should see.
Groupon and its competitors build buzz by sending out a daily email alerting subscribers in a city to a local bargain.
Practically unknown a year ago, social coupons have boomed by offering consumers another route to discounts while providing small-business owners guaranteed revenue and a flood of new customers. The coupon sites typically keep between a third and half of the coupon value as their fee.
Dozens of social coupon websites have sprung up in recent years offering deals on everything from pedicures to hot-air balloon rides. Even dentists have offered discounts via Groupon.
