Old man winter far from retreating

By Kirk Mellish

I hope you'll understand that I am not much in the mood but will give a brief few thoughts on the weather pattern. As always, the blog is not the first or last place to check for my forecast. The radio and the 5-day forecast link are first and last.

The tragic unexpected loss of Royal Marshal has hit WSB hard. I just saw him Friday as he was coming in for the show. Royal and I shared many a laugh-- as we shared a common cynical sense of humor about the world today, politics, and the broadcasting business. He always had an easy smile and laugh and was quick with a quip, no matter what was happening he had a mostly sunny disposition. I will miss him for all of that. God bless and comfort his family.

On the weather front, I have not seen the models this discombobulated and inconsistent in quite some time. There is some sort of winter precipitation threat in the window time frame of Thursday night into Saturday.  Yet another winter precipitation threat may emerge a few days either side of Jan. 27th. No big time warm up or sustained warmth before about mid February give or take a week, if then. For details on the changeable situation as I said listen to the radio and click on the forecast link on our homepage front page.
