are well into the fall season and Thanksgiving, November 25th this
year, is approaching fast! November 25th in Georgia runs the spectrum
from frigid nights to warm autumn days. Average maximum temperatures
across north and central Georgia on November 25th range from 56 degrees
across northeast Georgia to 70 degrees across east central Georgia.
Average minimum temperatures for the day ranged from 30 degrees across
northeast Georgia to 44 degrees across central portions of the state.
In
regards to extreme temperatures, 1950 was a record setting year for
November 25th in Georgia as Atlanta saw a low temperature of 3 degrees.
Athens did not fare much better recording a low temperature of 7
degrees. Columbus and Macon both saw low temperatures of 10 degrees that
day.
On
the other hand, warmth is not unheard of in Georgia on the 25th of
November. In 1973, Atlanta observed a high temperature of 76 degrees
with Columbus and Macon both reporting 80 degrees. Athens saw its
highest temperature on November 25th back in 1921; it was 78 degrees.
Rain
is not all that uncommon with an average of 0.15 inches at Atlanta,
0.12 inches at Athens, 0.18 inches at Columbus, and 0.14 inches at Macon
on November 25th. This year's date for Thanksgiving does have some
history for snow. 1930 saw an impressive trace of snow at Athens,
Atlanta, and Macon. 1938 and 1950 had traces recorded at Atlanta and
