Let the games begin

By Kirk Mellish

The exception being some welcome rain and a touch of frost the recent weather has been pretty benign. But it looks like the next couple of weeks, as long expected here, are going to get a lot more interesting. A blizzard and severe weather/flooding event takes shape in the Rockies into the Great Plains, Great Lakes and Missouri-Mississippi River valleys, and eventually heads further east. Expect a lot of weather news headlines in the days ahead in the paper on the radio and from the TV networks. Too soon for details, but heavy rain and severe weather look possible here in Georgia by the the time we get into next weekend. La Nina continues weak and it looks like from May through the summer months we will end up with an ENSO state that is neutral to El Nino.  The timing and strength of this will cause making a summer forecast and hurricane forecast very tricky this year. Presently I expect a hurricane season much less active than last year, but still normal to a bit above normal in numbers. More here as always.
