You might not be able to see forever on a clear night, but you can see clearly the impact of the "Urban Heat Island". When sky is clear and winds light or air calm, the days heat radiates out to space in the form of long-wave radiation, this is what we term radiational cooling. But due to the urban development urban areas retain more heat than distant suburbs or rural areas. So it is not unusual in situations like this morning to see 10 to greater than 20 degree differences in morning low temps between downtown Atlanta and Hartsfield and rural areas in Georgia, even if they are further South. This is why regional and national weightings are used to better judge averages and climate. It still looks like the second half of this month and the first part of next month will have plenty of interesting weather! By the way, comment section is new in look, but the ability to comment has always been here, you just had to scroll down to see it. And no, unfortunately I dont usually get to read or reply to your comments, sorry, just no time with a staff of one. If you think something was predicted for HERE that never was, you clearly dont listen long enough to Atlantas Morning News 5 a.m to 8:30 a.m. and clearly dont read my blog daily for clearifications of your misunderstandings. Your loss, our readers gain- in being really in the know. Global warming has occured no doubt. How much is mankind and how much natural nobody knows. Anyone who tells you they do know is a liar. I also doubt predictions for its future trends. But I think we may have a good idea in no more than 20 years and maybe within just ten. I think my position paper on the topic can still be googled although it has not been updated since first published.
