A U.S. House committee has released a video spoof on the movie "Patton" produced for a pair of VA conferences held last year in Orlando - the cost to taxpayers of the video was about $52,000.
“I question the excessiveness in which taxpayer dollars are being used to fund multi-million dollar conferences," said House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL).
In a statement released on Wednesday morning, Miller vowed to investigate the conferences and the cost - reportedly $5 million.
"I have requested all budgets and materials for VA conferences that have occurred over the past three years to see if these two conferences are an anomaly or are part of a bigger pattern," Miller added.
Here is the video:
The Department of Veterans Affairs released this statement last week on the internal investigation into these two conferences:
“Secretary Shinseki has made clear that the people who serve our Veterans are keepers of the public trust, and that working for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is a privilege. Allegations of misconduct received by the VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) regarding two training conferences in 2011 are unacceptable. The Department is cooperating fully with the IG’s investigation, Secretary Shinseki has informed key members of Congress, and will hold accountable any individuals who are found to have misused taxpayer dollars or violated our standards of conduct.
