One of my favorite parts of the Sports page in the newspaper has always been the small type where "Transactions" are listed, like someone being cut, a player being signed, etc.
We might have the start the same thing for the U.S. Congress and the Bush Administration pretty soon based on all of the action that's going on these days in Executive and Legislative branch of government.
Let's see if we can mimic the agate type in the Sports section here:
DELAWARE - Gov. Ruth Ann Minner (D) announced she would appoint Ted Kaufman to the Senate seat of Vice Presdient-elect Joseph Biden. Kaufman spent 22 years working for Biden, leaving in 1994 as Chief of Staff. Biden's resignation date remains uncertain.
VIRGINIA - Rep. Tom Davis (R) started working Monday for Deloitte Consulting, after resigning his House seat last Friday. Davis had opted against a re-election bid. His seat will remain vacant until the new Congress is sworn in January 6, 2009.
VIRGINIA - Rep. Virgil Goode (R) says he will ask for a recount of the election results in his re-election bid, which show him losing his seat in the Congress. Goode will request a recount. He trails by 745 votes in the final vote count.
NEW MEXICO - Gov. Bill Richardson will leave his post to become Commerce Secretary in the Obama Administration.
WASHINGTON - President Bush has granted pardons and commutations to 14 individuals. Their crimes include embezzlement, drug charges and more.
MINNESOTA - Incumbent GOP Sen. Norm Coleman now leads Democrat Al Franken by 202 votes in a recount of their 2008 Senate race. At last report, Coleman had lost 841 votes, while Franken has lost 828, for a net gain of +13 for Franken.
CALIFORNIA - GOP candidate Tom McClintock (R) now leads by 1,566 votes in the race for California's 4th Congressional district seat. Democratic candidate Charlie Brown so far is refusing to concede.
OHIO - The focus for elections officials is now counting close to 30,000 disputed and provisional ballots that could make a difference in Ohio's 15th Congressional District race. Republican Steve Stivers leads Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy by 149 votes.
ILLINOIS - Still no puff of white smoke from the state capital of Springfield, where Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) has yet to choose a replacement for President-Elect Barack Obama.
NEW YORK - The maneuvering is in high gear as Democrats angle for the chance to be chosen to replace Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Senate.
