The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Troup County early Sunday morning.
 
Crews surveyed the area of the Heritage Hills subdivision and determined an EF1 tornado with max winds of 95 mph touched down around 2 a.m. The funnel had a width of 280 yards and traveled 1.8 miles before lifting near Ga. Hwy. 29.
 
Approximately 50 large trees were snapped or uprooted; several fell onto homes and vehicles. One greenhouse was blown down and destroyed.
