Wildfires destroyed several houses in New Zealand's earthquake shattered city of Christchurch on Thursday (January 10). Local broadcaster TV3 reported that the flames had claimed up to four homes as well as paddocks. In total, an area of 150 hectares has been destroyed, but no one is believed to have died and no injuries have been reported, TV3 said. Christchurch resident Amy Thorsby lost her home in the fire. She said she was unable to get insurance, following the earthquake in 2011.
