Sapporo, Asahi and Kirin. Japan has spawned some of the world's best beer makers. But here in their home market, they face serious problems. You've got horrible demographics with an ageing beer-drinking population, and a new generation that frankly just doesn't seem as into their ales. That's part of the reason we've seen so much of this - Japanese outbound M&A in the beer industry. It's a good but frequently expensive solution.
