Despite a disappointing 38-35 loss in the season opener at Clemson, and a thigh injury that nagged him most of the night, Georgia sophomore tailback Todd Gurley has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
He was also named the National Running Back of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Saturday at Clemson, Gurley ran for 154 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns including a 75 yard TD run in the first quarter.
His efforts paced the 545 total yards the UGA offense amassed in the game.
The performance was a season high for Gurley and the 10th 100-yard game in his young UGA career.
The Dawgs host South Carolina on Saturday at 4:30. Air time on WSB will be 12:30.
