From its humble beginnings in the local Boy Scout hut and school gymnasiums, Southside Theatre Guild has not only survived but has flourished for over 30 years. As one of Atlanta's oldest community theatres, STG has provided good quality opportunities for involvement in avocational theatre since 1973. Each season, STG offers at least five productions, which include a drama, a comedy, a musical and a family show. This format provides a balanced season for participants and audiences alike. The theatre is staffed completely by volunteers. Membership and auditions are open to anyone with an interest in live theatre. Members range from novices who learn by "pitching in" to those with more formal training. Some of our members have never been on stage, but are indispensable in the success of STG. Participation by children and teens has always been encouraged, thus a distinctive identity among community theatres has been established. We maintain an awareness of our responsibility to the community and look forward to many more successful years, as a citizen of the south metropolitan area. We are confident that folks in this area will continue to be proud to call The Southside Theatre Guild the best show in town!
