UGA players get ready for BCS championship without them

Tonight’s BCS National Championship game should have been Georgia’s night. Except for those five yards.

“Oh my god,” screamed the Voice of the Dawgs Scott Howard as Chris Conley fell five yards short. “We ran out of time.”

So the BCS title game will go on in Miami without the Dawgs. Alabama advanced with its 32-28 win in the SEC Championship game. They’re opponent is unbeaten Notre Dame.

Georgia players will be stuck on their couch.

“It’s tough to watch knowing that you could have been there,” said Georgia tight end Arthur Lynch.

The man that will be forever stuck with that last catch in Atlanta will tune in tonight from Athens.

“I’ll watch it,” said Conley. “That game is over. Now our season is over so I can watch some other football.”

But the sophomore wide receiver says Georgia fans do have something to pull for tonight.

“I’ll be looking to see Alabama to do some damage. Hopefully that will help us out when it comes to postseason and preseason (rankings).

Many in Bulldog nation feel that way, even if they are stuck rooting for their SEC pride.

“I don’t think Notre Dame will come as close to Alabama as we did,” UGA student Russell Suits said before Georgia’s win in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando.

Alabama is a 9.5 favorite over the Fighting Irish. Georgia lost by four.

“Give credit to Alabama they beat us,” said Lynch. “We were five yards away and didn’t win. Give all the credit to the two teams that will be in the game. I’m sure it will be a good one.”
