Cobb County Police and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating a double fatal accident on I-575.
Sgt. Dana Pierce tells WSB it happened just before two o'clock Monday just north of Chastain Road.
"We've had a northbound vehicle just north of Chastain Road, cross over the grassy median area and strike a southbound vehicle," said Pierce.
The accident involved a 2007 International 7600 commercial vehicle and a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country. Police confirmed that two people died on the scene. The victims were 19 year old Abraham Fernandez of Acworth, Ga. and his eight year old passenger, both were riding in the Chrysler.
The other two involved were identified as 42 year old Earldean Clayton or Rex, Ga. who was taken to Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the other deceased victim 19 year old Abraham Fernandez of Acworth, Ga.
Drivers in the area were more concerned about the victims rather than the impending traffic delays.
"Very, very, very sobering. It's very hard to imagine what the families are going through, if they're even notified at this point," the woman told Channel 2 Action News.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
