Thief targets bongs at Snellville store

It's a new one for the Snellville Police Department; a smash and grab involving $1,000 worth of bongs.

A man believed to be in his early 20s can be seen throwing a rock threw a glass door at The Market on Highway 124.  From there, he smashed a glass showcase containing pipes or hookahs that are advertised for tobacco use.

"Those are a pretty expensive product... $300 or $400 a piece," says head cashier Sunny Chowdhury.

He says the thief passed on bottles of wine, lottery tickets, cigarettes, and cash and headed straight for the case.

Snellville Police Capt. Harold Thomas says it's clear the suspect knew what he was after.

"He knew which door to go in; he obviously knew exactly what he wanted (and) where it was at," he says.

Thomas is hoping surveillance video which captured a clear shot of the thief will help lead to his capture.
