The family of Kendrick Johnson has filed a lawsuit against the funeral home that handled the teenager's body.

The suit alleges that Harrington Funeral Home, of Valdosta, "perpetuated a fraud" in an effort to deceive the family.

Johnson was 17 when he died in January of 2013.  His body was found inside a rolled up wrestling mat at his high school.

It was later discovered that all of Johnson's international, organs had been removed, replaced by newspapers.

In their suit, the parents of Johnson say the home practiced deception and, at worst, is responsible for the removal and destruction of the teen's organs.

An investigation into Johnson's death determined that he had died in a freak accident by falling into an upright mat and getting trapped inside of it.

Johnson’s family discounts those findings, believing the teen was killed.

The amount being sought in the lawsuit has not been disclosed.
