DeKALB COUNTY - DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander wants to know more about what Navy Yard shooting suspect Aaron Alexis was doing and who he was seeing when he was in Atlanta five years ago.
“He violated a county ordinance and subsequently ended up getting himself arrested,” Alexander said Tuesday.
Alexis was booked into the DeKalb County Adult Detention Center August 10, 2008 on a charge of disorderly conduct, Alexander said.
“He was very vulgar,” the chief noted.
Alexis spent two nights in jail after he was arrested by an off-duty police officer at a bar on Chamblee Tucker Road near I-285. He posted a $300 bond, which was later forfeited.
“We have not heard from him or seen him since,” said Alexander.
The FBI has yet to ask DeKalb Police for help, Alexander said, adding that if they do, his department will comply.
