MARIETTA - Five Cobb County firemen and one of the county’s police officers are being investigated for illegal steroid use.
They’re accused of using or distributing steroids without a prescription.
“This initiated when a tip came into the county’s narcotics unit that steroids may be being used or distributed illegally,” Cobb County government spokesman Robert Quigley told News/Talk WSB. “We began our own inquiry into this to make sure our employees are living – both on duty and off duty – to the standards we expect.”
Quigley says the investigation should take a couple of weeks.
Three firefighters are on administrative leave, one is still working pending the outcome of the investigation, while the other firefighter has quit.
The accused police officer has also resigned.
