Accused child molester escapes in NC

A Blairsville man, wanted for child molestation, breaks out of jail in Clay County, North Carolina.

Clay County Sheriff's Captain Melvin Cantrell tells WSB, 48-year-old John Douglas Graham scaled the razor-wire fence at the county jail Sunday and took off bleeding on foot.

A citizen spotted him the next day about a mile away on Qualla Road.  Tracking dogs led deputies to an abandoned house and barn.

"When we searched the house," Cantrell tells WSB, "we found him hiding in the attic.  His legs were really cut up bad from going through salt briars and thickets and stuff like that."

Graham now faces escape on top of child molestation charges.  Bond's set at 1 million dollars.
