Georgia

Ron Courson's playing time

  • Courson is the Director of Sports Medicine for UGA. The main key for the Dawgs against Florida Atlantic is to make sure that Courson and his crew are bored. In other words, don't get hurt. There is nothing worse than a key injury in a blowout win. Expect the bench brigade in the second half, maybe sooner.

Welcome Back Kotter (Well Cummings and Vasser)

    • The Dawgs were able to get past Missouri with four defensive starters suspended. This week they get two back in Cornerback Sanders Commings and Linebacker Chase Vasser. Both players are slotted as second-string for this game. Commings missed the Missouri trip after being charged with domestic violence in the offense. Vasser had to sit out because of a DUI. "It was tough," Commings said Tuesday. "But I've just been practicing hard and making sure I was ready when it was time to come back." Still unresolved is the status of two other suspended starters on defense — All-American safety Bacarri Rambo and inside linebacker Alec Ogletree.

    Go, Go, Offense Go

    • Georgia has put up more than 40 points in its first two wins (45 vs Buffalo, 41 vs Missouri). The last time that happened was 2008 when they hung 45 on Georgia Southern and 56 on Central Michigan to start the season. The last time Georgia scored 40 or more points in three straight games was 2010 (41 vs Tennessee, 43 vs Vanderbilt, 44 vs Kentucky).

    Florida Atlantic

Let's go Owls. Beat the -- uhh spread

    • The Owls are a 44 1/2 point underdog in tonight's game. But that's why God invented the spread. The last time Georgia was this big of a favorite was 2010 when they were a 45 point favorite over Idaho St. (Dawgs won 55-7). FAU hasn't been this big of an underdog in the last five years. However, they did cover a 31 point spread against Auburn last year (lost 30-14).

    Crusin' for a Brusin'

    • It's going to be a rough two weeks for the Owls. They face No. 7 UGA this week and No. 1 Alabama next week. FAU will pocket $1 million from their SEC opponents. But theresults will be...well lets say should be ugly (Arkansas fans are rolling their eyes). The Owls are 0-6 against an SEC opponent. They have lost by an average of 30 points.

    Sunday Studs

    • Ok, well just maybe one stud. After tonight's game Owl fans can turn their attention to the NFL on Sunday to watch former running back Alfred Morris start for the Washington Redskins. Morris was a sixth round pick in the 2012 NFL draft and had 96 yards and two TDs on 28 carries in the opener last week. Morris had 1186 yards last year for a team that went 1-11. He is the school's all-time leading rusher with 3,529 yards from 2008-2011.
