Georgia tips off against Alabama at 9p.m.

By Lauren M. Johnson

Georgia Bulldog men’s basketball tried for its sixth win in a row Tuesday against Alabama.

UGA pulled out a close win against the Texas A&M Aggies 52-46 three days ago. The win tied the Dawgs with Kentucky for the current overall consecutive win streak in the SEC since 2001. The win Tuesday versus Alabama could push them into the top spot.

The 12-11 Dawgs will have home court advantage against the 15-8 Crimson Tide, who is also coming off a tight 60-57 win over LSU.

Key player for UGA is sophomore Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who is averaging 19 points and 6.8 rebounds, shooting 63 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range and 91 percent from the FT line, according to georgiadogs.com.

Alabama’s junior guard Trevor Releford is top scorer for Crimson Tide and could cause some trouble for UGA on defense.

This will be the 139th meeting between the two teams.

Coverage starts at 8:30 p.m. on WSB’s sister station 97.1 The River. Game starts at 9 p.m.
