For the first time in years, employees with the Clayton County school district could be getting a raise.
Interim Superintendent Luvenia Jackson says it's time for her system to compete with others in the metro Atlanta area.
So she tells Channel 2 Action News during Monday night's school board meeting she plans to recommend an annual 3% pay increase, plus a one-time 1% bonus.
Jackson also wants to add more teachers to decrease class size and put more emphasis on early childhood literacy.
She admits her plan will need to be studied, but believes it's both feasible and sustainable.
