Gwinnett County police investigators want to talk to a woman who may have been among the last people to see a murdered Duluth man alive.
The body of 26-year-old Dany Martinez was found July 28 in woods near The Falls Apartments where he lived with his mother and siblings.
Police are trying to piece together his whereabouts in the 24 hours leading up to his murder.
Cpl. Jake Smith tells WSB's Sandra Parrish surveillance video from S.M. El Alto Mexican Restaurant on Satellite Boulevard, located near the apartment complex, shows Martinez and a friend talking with the woman outside.
"On the video we can see that he had a very brief encounter with a woman who was potentially having car trouble at the time," he says.
Smith says the woman is not considered a suspect, but a potential witness in the case. She is described as black, wearing pink pants, and a black shirt. She was also driving a black SUV.
"He was missing during an overnight time period, so if this crime occurred late at night there may not have been many people around to witness the crime," he says. "It's important for us to talk to everybody we possibly can in the case."
Smith says Martinez's friend has been cooperating with police and is not considered a suspect at this time.
