SANDY SPRINGS - A Sandy Springs woman is in serious condition at Grady Hospital after being shot during a domestic dispute.
Captain Steve Rose with the Sandy Springs Police Department says officers were called to the Chastain Apartments at 4550 Roswell Road around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
"There we found a shooting victim, 38-year-old female, her name is Shawn Crew. She was shot I believe more than once, resulting from a domestic argument," Captain Rose tells WSB.
Detectives have identified the person who shot Crew as 42-year-old Matthew Terry, the father of the victim's child. He's described as a black man, 5-foot-9 and 227 pounds. Investigators consider him to be armed and dangerous.
Terry fled shortly after the shooting and may be driving the victim's Mercedes C-280 with New York tag FLX-3586 or a black Cadillac Escalade with New York tag ETJ-6098.
Terry is from New York and has ties to North Carolina. He's been charged with aggravated assault, burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Captain Rose says, "he was not a current boyfriend. At some point during the day I think, unannounced, he showed up and at some point she was shot."
Crew was transported to Grady Hospital where she is listed in serious condition.
Police say her 4-year-old child was also in the home at the time of the shooting.
"The child was not injured and is there with family members but also Child Detectives are on the scene with the family," says Captain Rose.
