Police receive tips for missing Clayton County teen

Clayton County Police investigators say they have received numerous tips about the abduction of a 14-year-old girl from her Ellenwood home overnight Monday, but are not revealing what, if any, information they've learned.

Ayvani Perez was taken by two men in an apparent home invasion in her Brookgate Subdivision.

Police say when her mother told the suspects she didn't have any money or jewelry, they shot the family dog and took the girl.

"We do believe the young lady is in harm's way and we are actively and diligently investigating this situation to make sure she is returned safely," says Lt. Marc Richards.

He says both the GBI and FBI are assisting in the search for the suspects.

Police released sketches of the two men based on the mother's description. Both are black and in their mid 20's.  One has a tight haircut while the other has dreadlocks.

The two were last seen driving a gray or dark blue Chevy Impala or Dodge.

"If you see anything fitting the description of the alleged perpetrators or the vehicle in question, call Crime Stoppers or Clayton County 911," says Richards.

Few neighbors knew the family who moved in just a month ago.  But Marissa Putman is shocked to learn of such a crime in her normally quiet neighborhood.

"It makes you want to lock your doors, get a security system, even move," she tells WSB's Sandra Parrish.
