It began Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 when a police officer spotted a suspected computer thief near Lenox Square.
“The individual was riding a bicycle when the officer noticed him,” said Atlanta Police Major Darryl Tolleson.
The officer tried to talk with the young man, who got off his bike and walked into the parking deck behind the Westin Hotel, Tolleson said.
At some point, the young man pulled a gun, according to the major.
“At this point, we’re still investigating who shot who,” said Tolleson.
But what’s clear, Tolleson continued, is the cop wasn’t shot. The suspect was. The young man was taken by ambulance to Grady Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Tolleson said the unhurt patrol officer may have solved more than one crime.
“We think this individual is the perpetrator of multiple crimes up here,” said Tolleson.
