The station dominated the radio popularity ratings into the 1970s and ‘80s. Listeners heard Hank Aaron’s historic record-breaking home runs in 1974, and Georgian Jimmy Carter’s election to the Presidency two years later. Longtime GM Ellis had retired around the time of the station’s 60th anniversary in 1982.
