The guy that changes the price signs at gas stations finally gets to do something he hasn't done for a while -- grab smaller numbers.
Gas prices are starting to trickle away from $4 per gallon. AAA says the average price in Georgia is now at $3.92, while its $3.98 in Atlanta.
WSB Money Matters host Wes Moss says that drop should continue.
"It is real, it is real," says Moss. "We could see $3.5 a gallon by the middle of the summer."
Oil prices have dropped 16 percent since May. However, weather, world events and speculators have prevented those savings from moving to the gas pump.
"So I know that eventually gas prices will reflect that it just took an extra week or so this time," said Moss.
Even if prices do drop 50 cents by the summer, we will still be paying 70 cents more than we were this time last year.
Still, drivers across Metro Atlanta told Channel 2 Action News, that can't happen soon enough.
"Hopefully, the prices will go down more and well be happy in June, hopefully," Brent Dickinson said.
Moss suggests consumers should only buy gas in small quantities this week. He predicts average gas prices will be down to near $3.90 per gallon by next week.
