New details are being released about the fatal SUV crash Wednesday night that killed a grandmother and her grandchild.
Dekalb County Police have identified the two victims who died in the crash and the suspect.
"He is 27-year-old Jeremiah Warthen. At this point, he faces at least 12 charges ranging from two counts of vehicular homicide, hit and run and aggravated assault on a police officer," says Dekalb County Police Spokesperson Mekka Parrish.
Warthen also faces cocaine trafficking charges for drugs that Police say they confiscated from his hotel after his arrest.
It all started on Wednesday night when Dekalb County Police were attempting to make a routine stop with Warthen and instead of surrendering to police, he slammed into a Police Cruiser and then sped off.
"He traveled a short distance where he crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a car carrying six people," says Spokesperson Parrish.
Police say 57-year-old Alicia Moxley and her 3-year-old granddaughter, Jordan Haynes died in the crash.
Four others inside the family sedan survived, but were injured.
The two children and two adults are still hospitalized.
Warthen made his first Court appearance on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Magistrate Court, and he's facing up to 12 charges.
