A 15-year-old girl was killed Sunday after she crashed her all-terrain vehicle in Walton County.
The Georgia State Patrol said Madison Elizabeth Young, of Monroe, and another teen were riding the ATV on Mount Ena Road when the two hit a ditch. Young lost control, overturned and hit a tree, the state patrol said.
Both girls were thrown from the vehicle, a 2002 Honda Rancher, he said. Neither was wearing a helmet.
Young died after being transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, Cosper said. Katie Kennedy, 15, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center.
Young was a sophomore at Loganville High School, where she played soccer. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Wednesday Summit Baptist Church in Loganville.
