A jury has convicted a man of beating a teenager to death at a party in Douglas County.

After less than two hours of deliberations, Wednesday afternoon, the jury found Tracen Franklin guilty of felony murder and felony malice murder.

Franklin was part of a group of men who attacked teenager Bobby Tillman outside a party. Prosecutors had said Franklin's friend, Emmanuel Boykin, was hit by a girl and intended to retaliate against the first male he saw.

The punches, kicks, and stomps Tillman suffered tore his heart. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The malice murder conviction allows the judge to potentially sentence Franklin to death.
