TSPLOST supporters are using the opening of the Big Shanty Connector in Cobb County to promote the upcoming sales tax vote.

The $18 million project goes underneath Interstate 75, connecting Town Center with Kennesaw State University.

Until now, "It can take half an hour to get off campus and onto I-75.  Now that's a massive distance of somewhere in the vicinity of half-a-mile," quipped KSU President Dan Papp at Monday's ribbon cutting.

The Chairman of the Atlanta Regional Commission also used the occasion to make a pitch for the upcoming vote.

"If we are to add money we will see 157 projects over the next ten years that will have the same impact on the region that this project does," said Chairman Tad Leithed.

Polls have consistently shown most voters surveyed planning to say "no" on July 31st.
