Teen runaway leads police chase up I-75

By Bob Coxe

Tunnel Hill, GA —

A 14-year-old runaway from South Carolina faces serious charges, after an overnight chase up I-75 into Tennessee.

The chase started around 8:30 p.m. at a gas station in Tunnel Hill, Georgia, when Catoosa County deputies responded to a report of shots fired. The teenage driver took off, ramming a patrol car and sending a deputy to the hospital.

Whitfield County deputies and the State Patrol joined the chase up 75, with the driver firing out the window.

Police in East Ridge, Tennessee laid down spike strips, but he kept going on the rims until the car died off I-24 and he bailed out of the car.

He was caught in a nearby yard, and is now in the Hamilton County Juvenile Jail charged with aggravated assault and felony evading.
