Early voting underway in Georgia

By Pete Combs and Richard Sangster

Marietta, GA —

Whether you’re busy on Election Day or you just don’t want to wait, you can still cast your ballot, live and in person.

“We’re starting the early voting process today for the presidential election – the November Sixth election,” said Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

Georgia turnout is generally between 70 and 80 percent in presidential elections, Kemp said. He figures this year’s polling will be that good or perhaps even a little better.

And the Secretary Kemp seems to be correct, WSB's Richard Sangster reports that the wait at the Cobb County Government Center on Whitlock Avenue in Marietta was about an hour and a half this morning.  The Center is the only polling place open in Cobb today, but before the end of the month nearly a dozen early voting places will be open in the county.

Voters Peggy Music and her husband from Marietta told Sangster they, "had made up their who they're voting for months and months ago."

Dolly Ledford said, "She'll be on vacation on election day," and she made up her mind who to vote for, "months and months ago".

A Marietta college student decided to vote early because he was home to do it.

As of now, there is at least one early voting center in each Georgia county. To find it, go to the My Voter Page on the Secretary of State website.
