Bank robberies are on the rise in recent weeks across metro Atlanta.  But one local county is seeing a spike in another dangerous crime.

Henry County police have investigated three violent home invasions in recent weeks, two of them deadly.

"On September 11, we had a home invasion burglary at a home in the Lexington Park subdivision," says Sergeant Joey Smith.  "Two victims were shot.  We had one fatal and the other victim is recovering."

Four suspects in the killing have been caught.

Robert Price III, 18, Brandon Terryhall, 20, Terrance Floyd III, 19, and Trey Cota, 21, are each charged with murder and other crimes.

Then, a few weeks after the Stockbridge home invasion there was another violent invasion.

"October 24 we had a burglary interruption," Smith tells WSB.  In that case the owner of a home on Avalon Drive, in McDonough, awoke in the middle of the night to find two burglars in his garage.  The 72 year old fired a warning shot to scare them off, but the suspects shot at the homeowner, hitting him in the abdomen.  The suspect ran off and are still at large.

This past weekend police investigated their third home invasion and their second fatal break in.

Police were called to 643 Sowell Drive, in McDonough.  They found Stacy West, 42, had been shot and killed.  West's husband, who had been beaten, was injured.

The husband told police the burglars were a man and a woman.  The black male is described as between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11, weighing about 235 pounds.  He had a red bandana covering his face.

The female suspect is described as 150 pounds, wearing a gray hoodie, also with a bandana over her face.

In this most recent crime the suspects are also still at large.

Smith tells WSB the only connection between the two McDonough home invasions is the violent nature of the burglaries.  Police do not believe the same suspects are responsible for both.

Crimestoppers Atlanta is offering a $2,000 reward in the killing of Stacy West.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Henry County Police Detective Tom Stott at 770-957-9121.
