Polls show Cain gaining momentum

Georgia’s Herman Cain continues to see his Presidential campaign pick up momentum after his Florida straw poll win last weekend.

Two new polls show the former News/Talk WSB talk show host is getting closer to the leaders and the President.

A Fox News poll puts Cain in third place at 17 percent. Mitt Romney leads with 23 percent, while Rick Perry is in second at 19 percent.

The Fox News poll still says President Obama would beat Romney 45-42, but that is within the margin of error. Perry’s support is eroding. It dropped 10 points from the last poll in late August, according to Fox. Most of his supports went to Cain and Gingrich.

Meanwhile, a new Rasmussen Poll shows Cain is only five points behind President Obama in a head to head matchup. Mr. Obama would win 39-34 over Cain.  In that match-up, 14 percent would vote for another candidate, while the other 14 percent are undecided. Cain was seven points behind the President in a similar poll last month.

Earlier this week, Cain was the leader in the latest Zogby Poll. He had 28 percent of the vote, a 10 point advantage over Perry and an 11 point lead over Romney.
