A Ballground man has been arrested for sexually assaulting two children under the age of five.
Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office tells WSB they began the investigation Tuesday and Daniel Baxter, 27, was arrested the following day.
"The assaults are believed to have occurred on multiple occasions during the month of June," said Baker.
Baker says the victims are a boy and a girl and are acquaintances of the suspect but are not related.
"We have absolutely no information to indicate there are other victims," said Baker.
Baxter, who is unemployed, has been charged with one count of rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of aggravated sodomy, and two counts of sexual battery and is being held without bond.
He says if anyone has concerns, they should contact the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at 770-928-0239.
