Jack Talley, 65, has been charged with simple battery.

A Paulding County school administrator is out on bail after he was arrested for simply battery. The victim: a four-year old Pre-K student.

Paulding School administrator Jack Talley, 55, was supervising a Pre-K class at Northside Elementary School Oct. 8, when four-year old Braden Blackmon threw a tantrum, according to a report from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses said Talley pinned Braden to the floor in an effort to restrain him. Even though Talley is the district-wide coordinator for behavioral support, pinning the child to the floor was apparently not the proper way to restrain him and several employees reported him to administrators who called the Paulding Sheriff’s Office.

“Mr. Talley was charged with simple battery, which is a misdemeanor,” said Cpl. Ashley Henson.

Talley is now free on $1,300 bond.

But Theri Blackmon told Channel 2 Action News she is not satisfied with “what’s being, in my eyes, covered up.”

“The school protected itself first, before it protected my child,” she continued.

School officials say their investigation into the incident is still underway.
